Call for Nominations: Douglas Foley Early Career Award
Established to honor an individual in the early stages of his or her career in educational anthropology, this award is named in honor of Douglas Foley, whose critical-ethnographic scholarship on US culture, race, and inequality in schools advanced the field of educational anthropology and helped move it in the direction of social and racial justice. We seek nominations from scholars whose research reflects this tradition of critical engagement with culture and inequality, social change, and social justice in alignment with the CAE Mission.
At the time of nomination, the nominee must be within 10 years after receipt of the doctoral degree and must be a member of the Council of Anthropology & Education. Priority will go to applicants who have attended and presented at the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association and/or been active with the AAA/CAE community in alternative ways.
Nominations must include the following:
– A letter of self-nomination explaining why this nominee is qualified to be recognized in this manner regarding sustained research and impact in educational anthropology (no more than 3 pages);
– The nominee’s most recent curriculum vitae (no more than 3 pages);
– One representative scholarly publication by the nominee within the last 2 years
