2022 CAE Outstanding Book Award


The CAE Outstanding Book Award recognizes new, critical, and cutting-edge books that make a significant contribution to the anthropology of education. Books that have been published within the past two years will be considered by a four-member selection committee. Awardees will be recognized at the annual AAA meetings. No money will accompany this award.

All nominators and/or nominees must be current CAE members. Self-nominations will be accepted. Nominations should be accompanied by 4 copies of the book and a letter from the nominator (no longer than 500 words) that addresses the following: (1) relevance to the anthropology of education and the CAE mission, (2) originality, (3) potential for significant impact on the field. Nominations for books that present work with indigenous communities and communities of color or that explore topics such as anti-blackness, migration, gender and sexuality, ableism, or similar subjects are highly encouraged.

  • Within the nomination confirmation email, nominators and/or nominees will receive instructions on where to send the 4 copies of the books no later than Friday, July 22, 2022.  We accept both hard copies or electronic copies.
  • The winners of the awards will be announced in the fall of 2022.
